So yes, that was indeed a lot of play time, but it was well worth it. I've pretty much done all the job level grinding I need to do, went around and fleshed out my spell list for my casters, finished sidequests, and generally kicked butt.
The only problem is that after all that, I'm still way underlevelled. And that's even if all I wanted to do was go clear Sylx Tower and beat the game. I'd want to be in the low 60s at least for that. The fact that I want to go beat the Iron Giant in the ??? cave as well just makes this even more complicated. Basically all I have left to do is grind. And, unfortunately there's no bosses that give better drops or anything. Yeah, I guess I could try and find some King Behemoths and get some protect rings... and I may do that, but otherwise, I've got all the equipment I really need. The one thing I miss from FF II, I can't believe I'm even saying that, is having the rare drops to go after while grinding...
So, my goal really is to get to the upper 60s today, which gives me a shot to go after the bosses tomorrow. Which would put me finishing this on Day 42, which keeps me on pace. Going to be tough.

Progress!!! So today I have some things to talk about. First of all, Ive begun my final job training. Luneth is kind of splitting time between Dark Knight and Ninja, Ingus will be a pure Ninja, Refia will be a pure Devout, and Arc will split time between Summoner and Sage.
So, one thing I did not know about this game before this playthrough was the existence of the secret dungeon or the ??? dungeon. Whatever you want to call it. My goal for today is to unlock this dungeon. Sounds easy enough, except the requirements for unlocking it are fairly ridiculous. Let's list them
-Completion of Sara's Pendant sidequest
-Completion of Legendary Blacksmith sidequest
-At least one job at level 99
-Cleared Sunken Cave
-Killed Odin, Leviathan, and Bahamut
-Cleared Eureka
-80% Bestiary and Treasure rating
Seriously, wow. Fortunately I'm well on my way to doing this. My treasure rating is currently at 74 and Bestiary at 70. So, by the time I'm done with Bahamut's Lair and Eureka today, I should just have to do some minimal wandering around to get my bestiary completion high enough.
Then of course I'm going to have to grind a ton just to be able to live in that dungeon. But, you know, I'll prolly try it at a lowish level... not like I care about overgearing for Cloud of Darkness... I hate that endboss. Seriously... so many hours of my life wasted because of unfair deaths on her... this was well before this playthrough though.

Ouch... that one really hurt. Guess I got a little too cocky, and was going through the game, not saving... had gotten through Doga's Cave, The Ancient's Path, opened Eureka, and was heading back to start the sidequests... and ran into a King Behemoth and got pwned by Meteor. Seriously ouch, probably 1:20 lost on that. It's okay, though, I will perservere... apparently I missed an optional boss anyway, I'll go back and get that. I plan on doing all that I lost and more today.

Side quest day!!! Saronia Catacombs and the Sunken Cave to be exact. Still have a couple more to do. Today I plan on doing the Falkenrath area as well as hopefully get some of the Legendary Blacksmith stuff started... never actually changed my party order to get all the messages from Mognet... oops. Didn't realize you had to do that. Also... weapons! Really starting to feel like a powerhouse, was able to steal Gungnir from Odin, nice weapon. Figured it was time to start a Geomancer as well.
Side note... played some more of FF XIV: ARR beta today and wow, it really is looking pretty good. Obviously there's a couple issues, which you'd expect when you reset everyone's character and everyone is flooding the starting areas. But REALLY looking forward to playing this when I get to it.

Yeah, no bosses killed today... strange part of the game where you go through 3 caves in a row (Cave of the Circle, Temple of Time, Ancient Cave) where you encounter no bosses. Very odd. Also got in a couple hours of FF XIV: ARR testing today, so that was nice. The finally unlcoked the Black ma... err Thaumaturge so got to try him out. Interesting little mechanic they use for rotation, eh, will talk about it more WAYYYY down the line.
Couple notes on my setup... switched Ingus back to a thief, for one, because their attack power is pretty awesome right now, plus so I can steal something in the near future, need to get to Lv 70. Also, really need to get Refia to 99... the Red Mage is just so bad now... no good weapons to equip.

Hooray! A day without a game over. And a lot of grinding and progression. Goldor's Mansion is one of the best levelling places, especially going to an area where you can't really go and grind. So its worth taking some time. Nothing really new to add otherwise...
Oh, one thing, starting tomorrow my time played is going to be a little low on the weekends. I'm going to split my time between progressing on this and beta testing FF XIV: ARR. So, hopefully I can get a good bit of progression today so I don't fall too far behind.
