Status + Notes

Would have to say mission accomplished for today. Did indeed finish up 3C and get well into 3D. Did get my first game over of the game today. Tried to beat Leviathan with my current setup, and it just does not have enough healing to get through it. Couple that with some unlucky targeting of my black mage and it was just over too quickly. Ah well, will make some class adjustments for the fight and then switch back to keep on grinding. Like I said, I really love the challenge of the boss encounters in this game.

The goal still stays to finish up Chapter 3 today, and maybe even get a little into Chapter 4. Looking forward to being able to setup my final party. Still not quite sure what that's going to be. But you'll see it here in the next couple of days.

Eh, mission not accomplished. Though, I did accomplish something more important than even finishing the chapter. And that's unlocking Hastega. My plan for Aigis is for him to be my endgame buffer with Hastega and Mighty Wall as he'll go Paladin next, so the rest of anything involving him should be a heck of a lot easier. Just have the last area of 3C to go, so my goal for the day is to get well into 3D and finish it by tomorrow. Very much looking forward to the endgame.

Also, wanted to talk briefly about the great encounter design in this game. Yes, there is a ton of grinding you need to do. And that's fine, whatever. But I have to say, the overworld mobs are not the simple things they are in most FF games. Almost all of them either have some sort of AoE attack or can afflict some kind of status. It is very helpful to try some different CC methods on the more difficult ones, especially before you've overlevelled for the area.

So, really just a half-hour of grinding, and setting up what is going to be the most difficult part of the game for me I'm sure... why do I say that you ask? Well, having a party with a Black Mage, Bard, and Summoner is going to be quite difficult. Very little healing and just a lot of pure raw power, especially with Doublecast. The Summoner unfortunately is going to be stuck with alot of Doublecast x Sylph. But, if possible I will push to get to 3D today. Going to be tough, but I've pulled through before.

So, I took a slow day. Just some grinding and one area completed. I do say, for as much grinding as you have to do in this game at least if pays off. In 5 levels I went from having to heal every single overworld fight to at least being able to string some together. Can't wait til I start getting some good abilities. Should really start trying to unlock some F-abilities. Will probably do that once I 20/20 out. Would like to finish the subchapter today. Got a lot to do if that's going to happen. We'll see.

Finished Chapter 2! Awesome. Now on to Chapter 3... where, yikes I am starting to feel underpowered. Probably due to the fact that I've only been levelling one job class, and I am really starting to need a dedicated healer and a more spread out team. This means I'm really going to push to finish my first job class and move on to something... especially moving out of Red Mage. But, really want doublecast first! Don't expect me to move so quick the next few days. Certainly won't be getting 4+ hours of play time in every day.
