Status & Notes:
I know I've taken a bit of a break from FF X lately... this will probably continue for another day at least. Part of it is just wanting to get ahead in Tactics Advance, part of it is just not wanting to bother with my elaborate setup for playing it, but rest assured peoples we will get back to it.
Had a couple... interesting... battles in Tactics Advance today. Really, just going in with really bad setups and then trying to work my way out of them. The one thing I really like about this game now, as opposed to my first time playing it... its that it really balances all the debuffs REALLY well. Sure, there are some abilities that are more powerful than others, and you need some presence of damage-dealing in your party. However, if you throw enough disables and slows and the like around you will be able to get through the encounter. I like this, as it really adds alot more strategy to the game and turns alot of classes that might be throwaways normally to be very relevant.
Today, I'm going to go through the Bangaa classes... and this is a very easy tree to go through. The bangaa are seen mostly as better physical fighters than magical, though that does not mean that they lack varied abilities. Let's take a look through their tree.
First, let's go with the physical branch. This starts with the Warrior class. The warrior class is similar to the Human soldier clas in that it contains alot of different stat debuffs to put on the enemy. It does also contain, however, a reaction avoiding strike as well as a heavy attack with recoil. All in all though, this pretty much serves as unlocking the rest of the classes. The first class unlocked is the Defender. The Defender is a rare tank class for a strategy RPG. It gains the ability to nullify all damage, heal statuses, disarming, etc. The Gladiator is very similar to the Human Fighter class, except instead of ranged abilities, all its abilities are close range. It gains the ability to use elemental strikes as well as wielding a weapon with 2 hands to increase damage. Dragoons have jump, one of the better ranged attacks in the game, as well as many breath attacks which hit a cone in front of the dragoon, also it has some abilities especially for fighting dragons.
Now, let's cover the magical branch, This starts with the White Monk. The White Monk is a mix of a White Mage with the Fighter class again. It has the awesome Air Render attack as well as some self-healing and reviving. The Templar is a class specifically designed to fight mages. It can inflict silence as well as attack MP. The bishop is kind of the all encompasing magic class for the Bishop, it has some moderate attack and healing spells, but really nothing special...
