Stuff Did Today(Final Fantasy Tactics): In the Salikawood, we ran into Mewt's own personal mage who, like us, was out inspecting whether or not one of those crystals were hidden in the Salikawood. He managed to see beyond our... downright awful acting skills to deduce that we were the ones trying to break the crystals and destroy Mewt's illusions. We tried to explain this to him, but darnit, he just wouldn't listen... so we had to beat him up a bit.

Stuff Did Today(FF X): Nothing

Status & Notes:
And we're back to Tactics Advance. Couple hours gone by, and I was mistaken... I really thought the next plot fight was the one where they raise the laws to 3 at a time... oh well, more time to level for me I guess. Probably going to be another day or two before I get back to FF X just to let you know.

Anyway, let's keep this short for today and get into our final race in Tactics Advance... which, if you've been keeping track at all, is the Nu Mou. The Nu Mou are the most magically inclined race of Ivalice, with really very little in the way of physical attacking. This, of course, really isn't a bad thing per se, with maybe the exception of their low defense. The power of their spells, though, just cannot be matched. The Nu Mou class tree is a bit criss crossing with many of the secondary jobs requiring skills from multiple base classes, of which the Nu Mou has 3. So let's start taking a look at them.

I'm actually going to change things up a bit here and just look at all the base classes first and then go into the secondary classes, merely because there are very few classes which are straight branches from the base classes. The first two base classes the Nu Mou has are Black Mage and White Mage. These work the same as many of the other races, but here, really do serve as base classes for the Nu Mou and are reliable go-tos in any situation. Their magic power makes their spells VERY strong and their large MP pools mean that equipping things like Turbo MP is no big deal. The third base class for the Nu Mou is the Beastmaster. The Beastmaster is a unique class who learns the ability to control various types of monsters. The most useful thing you can do with this is to ensure your Blue Mage can learn the various skills in the game.

Now, to the secondary classes. The first secondary class is the illusionist which requries 5 black mage skills and 3 white mage skills. This, to recap from the human version, has abilities which hit ALL enemies on the field. The downsides are the skills do fairly small damage and cost a LOT of MP. A fairly useful class early in the game, but once enemy HP pools start going up, they lose their luster quickly. A class that unlocks at the same time as the Illusionist is the Alchemist. The Alchemist is unique in that it keeps its ability to use items without equipping it as an ability. The alchemist also learns some powerful spells including the unique ability to cast the Final Fantasy classics Flare and Meteor. After just learning 5 black magic spells, the Nu Mou can become a Time Mage. This functions the same as the Moogle counterpart. They have skills that can alter the turn order greatly like Slow, Haste, Stop, and Quicken and has a very high magic stat. It has very little power to actually damage the enemy by yourself so you'll wnant to pair it with a class with some black-magic, or with white-magic and just let him function as a healer.

The NuMou has two more classes, both unique to the race. The first class is the Morpher. The Morpher is a shapeshifting class. If you have a hunter in your party and use him to capture an enemy, the morpher can then change into the enemy and use that enemies skills. Unfortunately, this is not a method you can use to teach your Blue Mage his skills, they have to come from an enemy. If you raise your captures well, they can be very powerful as their power is based on the enemy you morph into, not the base stats of the class itself. The final class of the Nu Mou is the sage. The Sage has powerful spells such as Giga Flare and Bio, while also having the ability to raise allies. All in all, one of the best support classes in the game.
