Status & Notes:

Able to take a big step forward today in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, despite some HORRIBLE play on my part. I mean, seriously, I got a game over after getting a little silly on the Llednar fight by not bringing ANY healing ability on Marche. Then, I had a great chance to get Lv 3 Defless after I got Giza Plains to go under attack... and then I forgot to bring my Beastmaster with me... ugh... so, yeah. Despite all that, I still finished a TON of missions. This is probably one of the biggest chunks in the game. And believe it or not, there's really only 2 more chunks after this... post mission 22 and then the postgame itself.

In FF X... well, I was able to head over to the Monster Arena and farm the items I needed to make my Great Malboro armor for Wakka, Tidus, and Auron... so, I'll be able to get over to the Omega Ruins soon. But first, I'm quickly compiling a list of monsters that I'm annoyed at for not showing up... right now Simurgh and Tonberry are on the top of my list.

Anyway, today, we have probably an FF X only day today... if so, I definitely want to finish getting my Simurghs... and then it'll be time to finish up Thunder Plains which shouldn't take long... then over to Macalania... and we'll just see how far I can get.

  1. For Simurghs, walk in the spots with sunlight, they show up much more often there.

For Tonberries, there's a dead end room after a right turn that is bathed in green light. They appear more often in that room.

  2. Ah, yes, the urban legends of FF X.

Actually, Simurghs can show up anywhere in the back half of the initial screen of the Djose Highroad... they just have an annoyingly low encounter rate...

Similarly, Tonberries can occur anywhere in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth and have a better chance to appear in the back half of the cave... (which is the green room is included in)

  3. They may or may not be urban legends, but they held pretty true for me on my recent playthrough. Anecdotal evidence, I know, but if you're stuck trying to find them anyway, why not?

  4. Oh, I'm not arguing with you... and in fact I did actually use the Green Room to find most of my tonberries... I was merely just fleshing it out on where the actual regions are in the game.
