Status & Notes:

Alright, we're getting somewhere here, in this crazy, stupid long quest... I'm 3 Bandersnatches and 1 Mandragora away from having 11/13 areas complete. From here, of course, its on to the Omega Ruins and finally Inside Sin to finish this thing. What's left then? Oh, you know, only completing the Omega Ruins and then grinding the Monster Arena enemies for our endgame armor and tons of spheres to continue increasing our stats... and THEN, we can finally go hunt some Super Bosses... and then anticlimactically beat the game...

So, as far as my hunting went for the day... it went surpisingly well. I had very little trouble finding anything I wanted to... the last 4 tonberries I probably found in the first 10 encounters in the Stolen Fayth Cave... The simurghs took about 25 minutes to get... so that was annoying. Ogres were probably the next toughest, and I can't really even complain too much about them.

So, today... I think it'll be a double day... so in Tactics Advance, I want to at least get everything cleared out to the next story quest or two. There's still quite a few things to take care of there... ya know, like getting Montblanc out of jail... sigh... Then, if everything goes right, maybe I can even get the Arena completion stuff... completed today!!! Well, let's see how it goes

  1. I might be a little late with this advice, but if you're going capturing in the Omega Ruins and Inside Sin, it could be helpful. From what I've gathered of your notes, you're only using Tidus, Wakka, and Auron for capturing, right? You should bring in some others for backup! Use Lulu and do some double-casted Demi spells to take off big chunks of HP before finishing them off with capture weapons. Even better if Yuna or anyone else has gone down Lulu's path and gotten Demi too. This is especially helpful for Master Tonberries so you don't have to face as many Karma counter-attacks and revive your characters all the time.

Also you probably know this but you can put Death or Stone touch/strike on your capture weapons and when the status procs it will capture them instantly. I'd suggest doing this with Rikku since she's probably your weakest physical fighter unless you've been raising her strength. Of course, most of the enemies in Omega and Sin are probably immune to Death and Stone so maybe this one is too little too late.

  2. Here is my opinion on this strategy... which is certainly more than viable. On a Master Tonberry, a doublecasted Demi will deal 16250 + 12187 damage. Really, this saves us 1 attack, including a switch in and cast time. What may actually be more worth doing is having Tidus or Auron use his Celestial Weapon to deal about 22k damage in a physical attack. I've pretty much been using Wakka as a Phoenix Down user in these fights anyway.

The only other fight which is really remotely challenging in here are the Great Malboros... and I have armor that negates any of the possibly deadly statuses... though it is annoying to still have to use remedies to cure Silence/Dark/Poison...

I'm very aware of the Stone/Death strike strategies. The only issue I have with them is this. It is great if you want to go out capturing as soon as you get the airship. You are going to have to grind some AP at some point though, which is why I just did that instead and pretty much anything dies to a 9999 damage attack until oh... Calm Lands I guess, so I don't feel it actually saves that much time in the long run. Eventually I plan on doing the Don Tonberry trick to level up the remaining 4 characters.
