Heh, so I've begun The After Years. While I am playing this game blind, I do know most of the story, and I find it fairly amusing... so I have decided to launch a new section of my daily recaps today... which will last at least through The After Years, maybe through other games... we'll see. It will basically be a sarcastic telling of the plot with plenty of real-world references... basically an excuse for me to write more...

Spoiler Alert... Sarcastic Plot Developments of the Day:

So, 18 years ago, we had a tale like any other good JRPG. The world was in peril, so a group of teens and a couple of guys in their early-mid 20s hopped on a ship shaped like a whale and went to a moon to destroy an evil manifestation of hatred and anger of a guy who lived on the moon and had to sleep alot. So, they went all Ridley on Zeromus's butt and went home. Their spaceship sunk into the sea, so they had some time on their hands. So they spent it in bed making babies. Then while the women were at home in the castle puking with morning sickness, the men raided the tower of Babil and fought someone named Rydia? Yes, that question mark is part of her name, and you better say the last syllable with a higher pitch, because she'll know if you don't and sic her pet Bahamut on you... So, yeah that happened. And then we jump into the present...

Cecil and Rosa's kid Ceodore is taking a test to become a knight in the Red Wings and his instructors are Biggs and Wedge. So they fly over in their X-wing(airship) to the Adamant Grotto. Before they get there Biggs smacks Ceodore down... because Biggs dad was a drunk, and Ceodore's dad is the King of Baron... and he's envious and stuff... Biggs dad never played baseball with him or anything. So they get to the cave and take him in and decide they want to play a game of Magic: The Gathering, so Ceodore is all like, "What are you doing?" and Biggs and Wedge are like here lets teach you about Banding. And Ceodore says, that is the most useless mecahnic ever, it will never last...

Biggs and Wedge disagree and leave Ceodore to go fight a Sand Worm... The Sand Worm's power level is over 9000! So, Ceodore falls over, and is forced to use the Kaioken technique!!! He beats the Sand Worm easily, but it drains his energy so Wedge has to cast Cura on him so he's good. Ceodore gets his emblem and will become a knight!

Meanwhile, back the castle, monsters are attacking, so Cecil and Rosa investigate. They meet up with old man Cid who beats things with a hammer. Its all good. So, they get to the top of the castle, and Cecil sends the women away. He thinks he can handle things because HE'S A MAN!! HE'S 40!!!! The Rydia clone comes back and sics Bahamut on Cecil and laughs at him for being a half-breed.

Meanwhile, a bunch of Tie-Fighters(monsters) attack Ceodore's X-wing(airship) and take it down, killing Biggs and Wedge... oh well. Ceodore runs into a Flamehound... and again it kicks Ceodore's ass. So, some emo guy shows up and takes it down because HE'S A MAN!! HE'S 40!!!! Ceodore asks him who he is. And he has no name... and a class of ???. So, together they head to Mysidia, where Porom has gotten all curvy and died her hair pink. To help ??? man and Ceodore get back to Baron she gives them a pair of mage lackeys to travel through the Devil's Road...
